Tuned & Serviced

Servicing your piano on a regular basis will preserve the quality of the instrument, ensure it is functioning at its optimal potential, and will also avoid costly repairs in the future.

Each piano is built to sound pleasing to the ear and that, of course, is the primary reason to have your piano tuned regularly. Tuning corrects the pitch of a piano. It is recommended that a piano be tuned a minimum of two times a year.

The strings in a piano exert an enormous amount of stress on the structural components of the piano. Spanned across the soundboard of a piano and held by a heavily casted plate is anywhere from 25,000 to 40,000 pounds of tension. For this reason, it is very important to keep a piano in tune in order to avoid undue stress in bringing it back in tune after years of neglect.

A piano also contains various materials such as wood and felt. It is imperative to avoid significant changes in temperature and humidity because these elements can cause the materials in your piano to swell or contract, thus affecting the pitch, tone, etc. of the instrument. It is best to keep a piano under relatively consistent conditions, usually at a temperature of 68°F and relative humidity of 42%.
